Welcome to the Rising Records label
Pig’n’aif continue to go from strength to strength. Their recent ‘Blue’ album is selling, downloading and reviewing well. They now have (at least) three parallel music projects on the go with many great contributing musicians. The projects are due to produce albums very soon. There is a ‘headbanging blues’ follow up to their recent successful ‘Blue’ album. They have a retrospective album completing a number of tracks which have been in the can for a long time. They also have another prog-rock fusion album due which includes more of their off-the-norm brand of output. Check out the Pig’n’aif website for more details or watch this space.
Some news for fans of classic NWOBHM bands. The original Phoenix Rising are back together in the studio. They are finishing off the album that was on the tapes when the original line-up was forced to call it a day back in the mid-80’s. With the wonders of modern technology, Danny’s original drumming has been digitised to retain the flavour and feel of the original band. The guys are adamant that it is just like having Danny back in the studio with them. The album is entitled ‘After The Fire’ and due to be completed imminently. They are also putting down demos for new material. It is on the cards that there could be some live gigs on the back of this if they can find someone to fill Danny’s seat. Check out the Phoenix Rising website for more details and watch this space.
Setsudan are creating a lot of interest in the Yorkshire and Midlands rock circuit. This is on the back of a number of very successful support and headline gigs over the past year which have firmly established a following for the band. After their search for additional contributing musicians, the three piece has settled into gigging as an instrumental modern prog-rock/metal outfit playing a mixed set of original material and their own arrangements of a few selected cover numbers. They are in the process of completing their debut studio album which we are all eagerly awaiting. Click here for more information and weblinks.
Important Note
This is the website of the original Rising Records label established in 1980 in the UK. We have no relationship or connection with the metal label started in 2003 using our trading name and associated with either Mark Daghorn or Clacton (UK). We have now found it necessary to publish this disclaimer because of many contacts received by us from bands, musicians and traders disgruntled with the services or contact received from this other label. For more information on this topic please click the following link to reference the Ultimate Metal Forum Website We are not in a position to confirm or refute any of the allegations attributed to that label.
Now, back to our business....
Sad news that Shrine Of The Monkey have split up. The members are all pursuing other projects. Rick Gregory continues to perform with the well known South Yorkshire metal band Seventh Son who continue to perform and record with a significant discography built up on the High Roller record label. On the positive side for any metal collectors out there it is unlikely that there will be any new Shrine Of The Monkey albums forthcoming so now is the time to get your hands on a future collectable. The Rising Records label is based in Sheffield (UK) and was formed as an independent label in 1980 registered with the Independent Label Association. We have been trading since then as an independent.
In addition to this web site we are also on Rising Records MySpace and Rising Records Facebook. There are web sites for most of our major band projects and you can always find people on there who are contacts or friends of the label.
The original purpose of the label was to service the recording and production needs associated with the label owner’s band Phoenix Rising. This was subsequently broadened in scope to include the projects of colleagues and friends.
Over the years we have helped and advised quite a number of people to record, produce and develop their products, some of them moving on to do very exciting things.
Rising Records remains a small independent label. We have Digital and Mobile recording facilities, mix-down production facilities and short-run mastering capability. The label is primarily a vehicle for the owner, his colleagues and friends. It continues to produce original and bespoke music commercially including background music for film/video, commercial presentations and multimedia.
We are geared towards servicing local group needs and projects. The label can also help in other ways. We know a number of local session musicians (live and studio), Mastering Facilities, PA hire companies, MIDI specialists, luthiers and so on.
The label is here to pass on the benefits of a reasonable experience to friends, colleagues and local bands wherever possible. eMail us if you think we can help. You never know your luck.
