Setsudan

Dark roadSetsudan is the brainchild of guitarist Krys Bangert and was formed in 2006 following on-line discussions between him and co-founder member drummer Kevin Noon.

The two musicians got together to start jamming in rehearsal rooms and found that musically and personally the got on very well together. They swiftly moved into the process of writing material which incorporates many alternative and progressive elements.

In late 2007 they expanded their line up to include bassist James Watkin. James, as a multi-instrumentalist, fitted into the format and writing schedule with a great deal of ease. Unfortunately due to work commitments he couldn’t spend enough the time with the band and had to leave.

He was replaced by Chris Dean. Another talented multi-instrumentalist, whose diverse influences and experiences fit the band very well and work has quickly progressed on new material.

In late November 2008, after much soul searching, Kevin decided to leave the band to pursue other non musical projects. As one of the founding members of the band, he will be greatly missed, but we wish him well in whatever he decides to pursue in future.

In spite of all of this change, the writing and recording continues and incorporates all of the contributors influences to date. Many tracks are already written and demo’d and the band are actually in danger of finishing off their demo EP shortly. As it stands they have 27 minutes of music in the can with a couple of other songs close to completion. When they are finished, we will be uploading some rough mix downs onto the site. The band will also be revamping their websites at that point.

The musician’s backgrounds incorporate many influences including rock, metal, blues, funk and electronic. All of these influences are being brought to bear in the material under construction.

We have incorporated a free-form jam, or “a bit of background noise” (as Krys refers to it) called ‘Ambience’ from one of their rehearsal sessions on the Media Page.

Setsudan are currently looking to recruit a drummer, keyboard player and vocalist to complete the live gigging line-up.

You can find out a lot more information about the band together with news of their latest material and merchandising from their web site on www.setsudan.co.uk and on their MySpace site.
